NEVADA TO REPRESENT WAC IN SHERATON HAWAI‘I BOWL
HONOLULU – Western Athletic Conference runner-up Nevada has accepted an invitation to play in the 2009 SHERATON HAWAI‘I BOWL, Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl Executive Director David A. K. Matlin announced today. The Wolf Pack will play SMU of Conference USA on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, at Aloha Stadium.
“The Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl is thrilled with the return of the Nevada Wolf Pack to our game,” Matlin said. “Coach Ault is no stranger to our game and to the islands and we welcome his staff and players back to Honolulu. The Nevada and SMU match-up should provide a very exciting Christmas Eve game as folks tune in across the entire nation to watch our pigskin paradise match-up."
After starting the season 0-3, the Wolf Pack (8-4, 7-1 WAC) won their next eight games setting up the WAC championship against Boise State. Nevada will be making its fifth consecutive bowl appearance and second Sheraton Hawai‘i Bowl since 2005.That year, the Wolf Pack won a shootout over Central Florida, 49-48 in overtime.
